The Metropolitan Police Department was established in 1861, with its first board of commissioners being presided over by President Abraham Lincoln.  Since its inception, 121 officers of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department have died in the line of duty.  The current memorial, a small fountain erected in 1942,  has long suffered from neglect has become sadly dilapidated.

The D.C. Police Memorial and Museum Project Board invites you to join us in creating a new memorial that will appropriately honor these fallen colleagues and in establishing a police museum.   Please take a moment to see our vision, hear our progress, and become a supporter.
